那么问题来了，“拍一拍”用英文怎么说呢？
大家可能注意到了，新版“拍一拍”的英文跟旧版的不一样。
“拍一拍”刚上线时，英文叫“nudge”。
nudge / nʌdʒ /
to push something or someone gently, especially to push someone with your elbow (= the middle part of your arm where it bends) to attract the person's attention
（尤指用肘部）轻推，轻触
现在的“拍一拍”叫“tickle”。
tickle / ˈtɪkl /
to touch someone lightly with your fingers, making them slightly uncomfortable and often making them laugh
使觉得痒；挠（某人）的痒痒
两个词的区别从释义就能看出来， nudge强调用手肘推对方，让对方注意， tickle更适合开玩笑，与朋友取乐。

剑桥英语词典关于pat的释义中提到pat“ gently and usually repeatedly”，该动作强调“动作轻柔”“反复多次”。
显然微信的产品经理并不想让大家不停拍拍拍，所以舍弃了pat。
例句：
He patted my head/patted me on the head affectionately.
他慈爱地拍了拍我的头。
I bent down to pat the little puppy.
我弯下腰拍了拍那只小狗。

beat 也有“拍、打”的意思。

She beat time with her fingers.
她用手指打拍子。
The rain beat against the windows.

但beat强调“ to hit repeatedly（（接连地）打，击）”，比“pat”更用力。如果“拍一拍”用“beat”，那么朋友圈里人人都成了叶问。

They saw him beating his dog with a stick.

The child had been brutally/savagely beaten.

拍，打；掌掴
slap也是用手掌拍打，但是用了很大的力气。
用“slap”不只能引起别人注意，还能让对方立刻过来和你打一架。
例句：
She slapped him across the face.
她抽了他一记耳光。
When her ideas were rejected, she slapped her report (down) on the table and stormed out of the meeting.
她的想法被否决后，她把报告摔在桌子上，气冲冲地退出了会议。

strike
to hit or attack someone or something forcefully or violently
击，打；撞击；碰撞；攻击
如果说“slap”和“beat”会引战的话，“strike”就可能涉嫌刑事犯罪了。
strike强调“forcefully or violently（强力地、暴力地）”击打，有“撞击；攻击”的意思，strike别人一下，你可能收到限量玫瑰金手铐一副。
例句：
Her car went out of control and struck an oncoming vehicle.
她的汽车失控，撞上了迎面开来的一辆车。
The police have warned the public that the killer could strike again.
警方提醒公众，杀手可能会再次下手。
clap
to make a short loud noise by hitting your hands together
拍（手），击（掌）
clap就是双手互相拍，拍出声音。
例句：
"When I clap my hands, you stand still," said the teacher.
老师说：“我拍手时，你们必须站立不动。”
The band played a familiar tune which had everyone clapping along.
乐队演奏了一支熟悉的曲子，大家都跟着一起拍手。
